While Scott was a youth pastor in Lubbock, Texas, God began to start the dreams of planting a church in Scott’s heart. In 2005 Scott realized that church planting wasn’t something for his future but something God wanted him and Amber to do then. As Scott and Amber discussed what they felt God wanted, they saw the need for a church where individuals matter and greater vision can be cast. Scott and Amber focused more on what the church should be like rather than where it would be. Then, they were introduced to Downtown Minneapolis.

The vision of having one church with many locations was a perfect fit for Downtown Minneapolis.  The vision quickly refined to having a Corner Church within walking distance of every resident in urban dense areas of the Twin Cities with each location being a community-minded coffeehouse as well.

On January 23, 2006 Corner Church started weekly services in Montana Coffeehouse in the North Loop neighborhood. On April 1, 2007 Corner Church purchased Montana Coffeehouse and started full-time operation, renaming it as Corner Coffee.

Because we meet in Corner Coffee, we are limited to how large our services can be, which is why we offer multiple services on Sundays. Because we desire to be within walking distance of everyone downtown, we believe in planting additional Corner Church locations.

In the spring of 2009 we prayerfully determined that the Loring Park neighborhood would be the home of our second location. As we began moving toward planting a Corner Church in Loring Park, God opened a different door. Church in Uptown/The Beat Coffeehouse needed a pastor. We were asked how we could be a part of what was happening there. After much prayer, we put our plans for Loring Park on hold and joined Church in Uptown with Corner Church on May 1, 2012. In 2016 The Beat Coffeehouse was renamed Corner Coffee Uptown.

Our third location, in the Camden area of North Minneapolis, opened to the community on January 22, 2017.

God has provided three church locations with two community coffee shops so that we can build His Kingdom in Minneapolis. We are called to be a church that is CENTRAL IN COMMUNITY, FOCUSED ON GOD, and TRANSFORMED BY CHRIST.
